My Story
Wayfarer.jpeg
British by birth. Canadian by choice.
A Beaumont resident for over 30 years.
First elected to council in 2017.

Thirty years ago I moved from Britain to live and work in Canada, becoming a new citizen in 1995. My wife Amanda and I chose to live in Beaumont, bought a house in 1992, and raised a family of three beautiful daughters here. I truly believe that we are blessed to live in such a wonderful place and that life really is better in Beaumont. Now that my family has grown-up and the town has become a small and thriving city, I want to continue repaying the community that has been so good to us, by serving another term as Councillor.

In order to devote all my time and energy to serving as a councillor here, I retired from my 30+ year career as a Database Administrator and IT Consultant for large corporations and government departments. But that experience has given me a strong technical background and transferable skills in analyzing complex systems and in successful project management. I believe that those skills enable me to be an effective and deliberate voice on council, which I will continue to be as I gain experience and understanding in my second career as Councillor.

If you don't already know me through Council, perhaps you remember my frequent stage appearances with Beaumont Drama Society of which I am also a past president, or my more recent appearances at Walterdale Theatre and now at Ruminari Live Arts. Or you may have seen me riding a bicycle through Beaumont and Leduc County, in the Tour de l'Alberta, or taking seniors for rides on the Cycling Without Age tricycle taxi in Beaumont. I may possibly even have met you when I was fundraising with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or knocked at your door in previous elections. But whether we already know each other or not, please feel free to contact me with your questions and concerns.
