Municipal Tax versus Population in Beaumont

Beaumont's population rises by more than 3% every year. But municipal tax revenue increases at an even higher rate due to the effects not only of population growth, but also of of inflation. So how much did Beaumont's municipal property tax per resident actually increase every year over the last 6 years? To answer that question, I have taken the tax revenue projections from every published budget for those years and population data for Beaumont from the Alberta Government website. Since 2023 is not yet over, I have extrapolated the population for 2023 based on the same rate of growth as in 2022.

So, over the four years 2018-2021, when I was on council and voting for budgets, tax increases per resident averaged 1.6 %. But since then, tax increases per resident averaged 6.3%.
